Easter Seals has been taking advantage of the great values at Sam's Clubs for our program needs for many years.

Sams Club has also been giving back to our local communities.

Recently, Easter Seals staff and participants were given an opportunity to get to know some of the Sam’s Club employees firsthand as the Franklin store welcomed us for a behind the scenes tour.

Adult Day Program participants were guests of Managers David Wiedholz and Rhiannon Phaneuf. They not only learned about how all of the wonderful products are warehoused and actually get to the shelves, but learned about employment opportunities ranging from cashier and stocking to working in the fresh meat, bakery and produce areas.

Congratulations to Lisa Blythe of Lisa's List, Michael and Beverly Bersch for hosting a very successful event at the Pfister Hotel on February 5, 2010.  About 300 people enjoyed the music and sharing at a fundraiser benefiting Children's Hosipital.

We have this good news to share.

For all those who come to Encourage America to read our stories or post stories of your own, we have different sports venues that really make Milwaukee stand out. We have the Brewers, the Bucks and the Admirals. However, for Jeff Dentice, a winning team really does take the commitment of everyone on that team to ensure success.  Many families bring their children to watch a ball game at Miller Park or attend the game to people watch, which at times can be very interesting, to say the least.  We all know before that game is played, the National Anthem is sung.  A huge thanks to Jeff Dentice for giving all of our veterans another chance to salute is the POW/MIA flag, which is in pristine shape up in left field. December 12th marks the 21st Annual Christmas with the Hospitalized Vets at the Clement J Zablocki VA Hospital in Milwaukee. This event is being coordinated by Jeff "Doc" Dentice, our readers' friend who served as an Army medic in Vietnam. Official sponsors are the Region 4 UAW Vets, a group of men and women who keep pushing for the smiles on our heroes faces......can you imagine that these brave heroes who may be hundreds of miles away from their families who are here in Milwaukee....we can make them feel that Christmas is a warm day to be in celebration.  We are receiving a true gift of freedom, having our Armed Forces in harm's way in protection of old glory.

Alderman Donovan has kicked off his annual series of 8th District neighborhood walk-throughs to learn about residents’ concerns and to see conditions firsthand.

If you would like Ald. Donovan to come to your block or neighborhood, please call his office at 286-3533 to request a walk-through. Milwaukee Police Chief Edward Flynn has said cooperation from residents is the most important part of plans by the department to cut violent crime in city neighborhoods.
