Tyler’s friends, new and old, make a difference in his life

Not long ago, Tyler Brunner was a little boy attending an Easter Seals camp, dances and other community recreation events. Tyler’s family needed respite and a safe environment where he could grow, mature and have fun with others.

Tyler’s mom, Linda, remembers how Tyler always loved participating in Easter Seals programs. “The recreation opportunities were a big part of his life as a child and teenager and he developed many friendships as he also expanded his social skills. It was wonderful to know that he was happy and safe. Tyler still remembers the staff and all of their names and is still very happy when he has an occasion to see them.”

Then came graduation from high school and the need to find a job. At that time Easter Seals did not have training or employment opportunities. “We had to find other resources and work with new teams of people. It would have been great if we could have transitioned to that new time in Tyler’s life with the people and programs we had known and trusted for so long.”

Tyler is now 23 years old with a job that he loves at the Waukesha Training Center. In January, Easter Seals will become part of his life again as the Training Center and its employment programs become part of Easter Seals Southeast Wisconsin.  From now on, young people like Tyler and his family making life transitions will not have to move from a trusted service provider.

“Tyler loves his job at the Training Center and looks forward to going there every day. We are excited that Easter Seals and all of their years of experience and resources will again be there to help us as his needs and wants change. The two organizations are a perfect fit. They have both been part of supporting Tyler and our family. We hope that the community will join us in supporting them as we all move into an exciting future together.”

Happy Holidays!
